Is AN RN Career For You?

by Connie Warenstein

Most people realize from hearing the news or reading the paper that RNs are in demand. Did you also know what they represent, in the health care industry, the biggest vocation? You may think of an RN as someone who gives you shots in your doctors office or who records you symptoms at the hospital, but they can do many other things as well.

Advancement to supervisor is common for many RNs during their career. This path is not for everyone though as many people do not enjoy managing others and those types of registered nurses are usually happier working directly with patients.

Working in the emergency room or in surgery is how many think of an RN career. While a significant number or RNs do work in hospitals they do not just work in the more common departments. Hospitals have many specialized departments such as maternity and pediatrics.

Some nurses work at Doctors office or in a medical center and assist the doctor. Other nurses may only work in a laboratory setting.

After someone leaves the hospital from surgery they may need to have a home health nurse visit their house to assist them. These types of nurses may work independently assisting many types of patients.

Other places registered nurses work include the government and private organizations. These entities may hire nurses for public health work. Other nurses may work for companies in certain industries at the place of employment to provide emergency assistance and to give exams to employees.

Ordering supplies and maintaining the medical equipment may be a job responsibility for head nurses. They also manage nurses under them and plan their schedules.

Many registered nurses wish to advance their career but not in a management role as they may enjoy working with patients more closely as opposed to managing staff. These nurses may consider becoming a nurse practitioner or becoming a specialist such as a clinical nurse specialist.

Electrician Resumes: Writing an Effective Resumes

by Salvador Paez

The next logical thing to do after graduating from school to be an electrician is to find a job. But if you decide to apply for a job, you’ll be needing a copy of your resum.

You may have limited experience in writing resums but that’s definitely alright. Resums provide basic information about you and your work/study history and experiences. The following is a series of tips designed to help you write a top-notch resum.

You can’t submit application forms when you’re applying as an electrician. Sure, they’re easy but they’re hardly enough to make you qualified. Resums are the keybecause they truly provide a list of your qualifications in relation to the job you’re applying for.

There are countless ways for you to make your resum good enough for the job. It is always important to note that your resum should showcase your talents, skills, background, and experience. If you’re applying for work as an electrician, you should include the school you graduated from, your specialization and if any, your professional experience.

Your resum must be short and easy to read, while at the same time should feature all your strong points. It should not feature information that is not important for your employment or is not related to the position you seek. The first time an employer read you resum, that person should be immediately able to identify what makes you perfect for the job.

The following should be seen when you want to write a resum for electricians:

* Your contact information (Full name, address, telephone number, mobile number, email address). * Your qualifications and educational background. * Employment objective or goal. * Work experience, if any. * Special skills and abilities

References should not be included in the resum but should instead be included in another sheet of paper. If your employer asks for references, don’t hesitate to give them what they need. A reference is a person who can attest to the truth supplied in the resum.

Job Interview Tips That Lead To Job Offers

by James Redder

When you’re looking for a new job, the interview is for most the most nerve-wracking part of the whole process. There is an element of fear, which can make you nervous with the result being poor performance during the interview. Doing well in a job interview depends largely on being well prepared and in a good frame of mind. The job interview is the number one thing on which employers judge prospective employees; gauging whether or not the prospective hire would be capable of the duties entailed by the position. During the interview, the employer will try to get a sense of how you think and how this might apply to the position in question. This is why preparation is key - if you show up for an interview with no idea how to deal with the demands of the job you are trying to land, then it will be no surprise if you fail to do well in the interview.

Getting ready for an interview is something that both you and your interviewer will be doing. Your interviewer will choose questions based on your previous work experience as a sort of test (and an interview is nothing if not a test) of how you would perform if given this position. You need to convince your interviewer that choosing you for the position will add to their record of success with the company in question. Try to be prepared for the tough and tricky questions which will be asked during the job interview.

There are a few questions that you can expect to be asked in any job interview. These include why are you interested in this position? Why do you want to work at this company? What are you making now? Other than these three, you will most likely be asked about your relevant skills and experience as well as what your expectations are for this position. Try to make your answers as detailed as possible and answer truthfully.

It is imperative that you have some answers to give for these questions - it is even more important that you be able to give examples from your personal experience to illustrate these answers. You can use these anecdotes to build a rapport with your interviewer, which is very important in trying to land that job.

Be prepared when you walk in for a job interview. Have at least (preferably more) two copies of your resume, three references and if applicable, your portfolio. This is not just a conversation you’ll be having, but you will have the opportunity to let the interviewer get to know you and make as strong of a case as possible for yourself.

One thing many interviewees forget is to have some questions prepared to ask your interviewer. Doing this will demonstrate interest in the company to your interviewer, which will be a point in your favor. Asking questions shows your interviewer that you are focused on this position and this company; your interviewer will take notice.

Don’t forget to dress up. You only get on e chance to make a first impression. While you needn’t go overly formal, dress in as professional of a manner as you can while maintaining a relaxed demeanor. This will give you an appearance of confidence, something which interviewers look for.

In Closing

In short, to do well in a job interview you need to do three things. Learn about the company and position so you can appear interested and knowledgeable, prepare your documents and examples from your experience and display confidence and charisma. If you can do all three of these things, you are certain to do well in a job interview.

How to Choose the Best Resume Styles

by Carlee Evie

There are many resume styles typically used by job seekers today and choosing the right one is essential if you want to stand a chance of making a favorable impression in the current highly competitive job market.

You may be wondering why there even has to be so many styles. Well, for starters, resumes aren’t just presented as physical documents any more. There’s a growing trend for people to view documents like resumes on the computer. A style that works splendidly as a printed document just will not work as well when sent through email or fax. So, this has naturally led to more styles for each medium.

Then you also need to consider that certain positions may call for a very specific resume style. So you’ll need to be adaptable. You’ll want to tweak your resume to suit each situation so that it showcases your relevant skills. That’s what a resume is for, after all: To show off your expertise.

By far, the most widespread form of resume writing is the chronological style, which as the name implies lists all of the positions that you have worked in starting with the most current.

A newer resume style-the functional style-has been increasingly more popular recently. This method involves listing your most significant accomplishments first, with lesser accomplishments following. This will allow any would-be employer to quickly skim through your qualifications and determine if you are right for the job. At the same time, this form also allows you to play up your strengths.

There are a few other commonly used resume styles, but these are mostly variations of the two aforementioned styles. This brings up an important point: do not be afraid to mix up resume styles to suit your purpose or a specific need. Remember, you want to showcase your abilities the best way possible and using the ideal resume style will allow you to do just that.

Safety Training Videos To Keep Your People Safe

by Salvador Paez

Companies usually require their employees to go through some sort of safety training at any one time, but the problem is when the company can’t afford to set aside time for their employees to attend safety training programs or seminars during work hours.

When that happens, using training videos is one of the best alternatives. Although formal safety training is always the best way to conduct things, training videos show the basics of safety almost as effectively. Safety videos deliver a lot of information for the viewer to digest in a short time, which, when you have little time, is definitely a good thing.

Safety training videos make sure that all the employees of the company get the same training and the same information, without any missing pieces or bits of information that people are sometimes prone on making. The lectures are not distorted, which is what happens when there are different lectures for every group of employees the company has.

The good thing with safety training videos is that the employee can watch it at his leisure, without the need to gather everyone together in one room to attend a single lecture. This makes the training more flexible, though some training methods are better when the employees can interact during the process.

There are many types of safety training videos, from construction safety training to laboratory safety training. Countless of online sites offer to sell their videos to companies, together with matching manuals and everything else people could need. Safety training videos are the best option for large companies with a big number of employees and even more employees being hired. This reduces the cost of hiring trainers every time a new batch comes in, and makes sure that everyoner receives the same training.

Safety training videos can be also be custom made for a certain company, showing the various safety measures in place in the company as the training is going along. This is especially good for companies that have workers assigned to hands on work.

by Salvador Paez

So you want to be in the Navy and protect this great country from all threats? Well the easiest way to do this is to surf the internet to find out where the closest recruiter is with your zip code. There are a lot of US Navy websites so you won’t be lost. In these websites you ca ask a lot of questions and the recruiters will be more than happy to answer all your queries. You need to understand what the deal is before joining, of course.

The most common questions are about the things that will happen when you are already in active duty, including details of the routine, practices, benefits, vacations, options, schooling, and the like. Another common question is about the retirement options after the Navy, including pension, insurance, and other benefits.

When you’ve confirmed your decision to join the Navy, your recruiter will schedule you for a military entrance processing exam, helping you with the paperwork and the forms required for it. The recruiter will discuss your opportunities with you, and help you come up with an outline of your plan to reach your goals, based on your interest and experiences.

Before you can take the MEPS you have to pass the initial requirements for candidates for recruitment. The requirements are simple and consist of: age, citizenship, dependents, single parenthood, financial obligations, educational background, drugs and alcohol count, and your medical, legal, and moral standards.

After going through that process you can now take the MEPS and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test, or the ASVAB. And once you finish that you can choose to go through the Recruit Training program after, or wait for a year under the Delayed Entry Program, or DEP, if you still have things to fix before joining the US Navy.

It’s suggested that you take the DEP to train for the Navy. It is very strenuous and you’ll need all the toughness you can muster.

by George Purdy

When taking a career test, there are good practices which can help guide you. Understand you will be tested on skills relevant to specific job requirements. Sometimes this will require you to visit the career website of the company which has job opportunities and take some notes. See what career “movers” have accomplished with the company in the past that may have posted on the site as well. Then prepare for the testing process while keeping in mind those same skills you researched.

You can seek help in preparing for any career test by seeking help from any available career coaching class, job newsletter, online career discussion forum, or career counselor. Military Recruiters

by hispanic

Army recruiters are primarily tasked with assisting candidates through the various steps before being admitted into the army. In the American army, the function of the recruiters generally range from providing possible volunteers with the information that they need and ask for, as well as accompanying the candidate to the testing centers.

Army recruiters are stationed in various recruitment centers in the United States. When a prospective volunteer first meets a recruiter, it’s usually just for data gathering sessions, so he/she learns the details of the job. Recruiters lecture candidates about the jobs available, the requirements, the benefits of each job, and the enlistment process. The recruiter also answers any questions that candidates ask.

Usually, the recruiter sets the date for a candidate to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) or a local testing facility. The MEPS is where the physical examinations are done, as well as where the candidate gets to choose his/her military occupational specialty. The recruiter also provides the transportation to the MEPS

Once the volunteer finishes the exam, the recruiter guides the candidate in choosing the military position he/she wants to do. The recruiter typically guides the volunteer with the help of a military counselor. After the candidate has received the proper documents and finished selecting his/her Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), he/she is told to return to the MEPS for the basic military training. The recruiter also usually takes the enlistee back from the MEPS.

The job of the recruiters is basically to give the necessary information that all candidates must know before they make any decisions, and to guide them through the process of enlisting. This is similar to the normal recruitment process of any other organization, although military recruiters do not have the same human resource-related tasks that normal recruiters have. They cannot fire soldiers or decide their wage, for example, although there are set standards for those already that the recruiters just need to say.
