However, diesel also has its drawbacks. One of the problems with diesel is that when it burns, it gives off more pollutants, like sulphur, compared to gasoline. Because of this, countries like the United States and some European nations impose higher emissions standards for diesel-engine vehicles. As a result, diesel costs higher than gasoline in some areas because of the added costs of complying with such standards.

Despite this disadvantage though, diesel continues to be a popular choice for fuel today. And with prices of fuel rapidly increasing, it doesn’t look like this will change anytime soon.
